The bewilderment of today’s public where millions are languishing in desperation waiting for government to come to their aid are continually left to fend for themselves. The trust the public had in government has long since disappeared. What is happening in the US and more relevantly in Texas are the results of what happens, is happening and will happen when government fails serving the public. This trend continues to create more animosity, suffering and decay of our democracy. The discord, the division and the downright combative attitude that has spilled over from the public into the halls of Washington are now almost impossible to extinguish.
In the past there has been periods of combative politics but, never quite like the levels we are seeing today. When the world and this nation are plagued with internal crisis where nations have unilaterally acted with decisive actions the United States continues to lag far behind in every aspect of aiding their ailing populations. This is no more evident than what is going on in Washington now.
We have had politicians promise immediate aid for the American public before and every time only to wake up to find that they were lying through their teeth. No aid, only procrastination. And, what does happen in so many times the aid that eventually comes is way too little and way too late. Today, when the country is in dire straits what does Congress do, they go on vacation. When the state of Texas needs help elected officials point fingers on whom to blame.
What all this boils down to is that the wheels of government are clogged by the corruption that has infested the halls of capitals. When there is any amount of corruption in government there can be no authentic governing. Democratic principles die replaced by the rule to tyranny. This is the future of the United States if we fail to recognize what is actually occurring within our political system.
For far too long the American citizen has been at the mercy of government. A government that acts with impunity, with no real regard for the true welfare of the people which they are supposed to serve. If there was an authentic resolve to actually bring aid to those countless millions of suffering Americans there would not be such an enormous state of despondency, anguish and suffering all across the country. The aid, the latest proposed stimulus bill and reoccurring financial assistance would have happened by now restoring faith in our government, bringing economic stability for millions of Americans and balance back into our society.
Sad, to say non of which is happening right now. And, what eventually will happen when the wheels of corrupt government do move, will only prove once again that when elected officials do act the results are what we are seeing today. There has been more homelessness, more hunger, more people without healthcare, more foreclosures and in essence a very unstable economy for far too long. There is no balance in our society today only an impoverished majority. These are the results of what has happened to America when our whole political process becomes corrupted. Where the influence of money dictates what elected officials do or do not do is the reality of what is happening. The staggering cost of lives and livelihoods lost just this past year alone is testament to a government that has become so ineffective in solving the many urgent crisis of our times.
