Eighteen Chicago Police officers have been injured in a protest Friday, the branch stated in a statement.
A massive team gathered for a protest round 4:20 p.m. neighborhood time, the branch said. Officers had been there “providing protection and defending their First Amendment proper to peaceable assembly,” the announcement said.
Approaching a statue of Christopher Columbus, some human beings in the crowd used rocks, fireworks, frozen bottles and different objects to assault officers, the declaration said.
The assault resulted in 18 officers injured, the declaration said. Some had been taken to location hospitals by way of paramedics for similarly cure and some have been dealt with at the scene.
