In the T20 series being played against England, KL Rahul’s bat has been completely silent so far. Rahul could not even open his account in two of the three matches. Team India captain Virat Kohli and batting coach Vikram Rathore, however, defended Rahul and described him as the best batsman of this format. Meanwhile, former India batsman VVS Laxman said that KL Rahul is constantly flopping due to his poor footwork and keeping the bat away from the body. Laxman said that Rahul’s batting also lacked the confidence and rhythm that often appears in his batting.
Talking on the Star Sports show, VVS Laxman said, “KL Rahul should play, because he has not played too many international matches. He is no longer an important member of the team in Test matches. But the way KL Rahul was dismissed in all three innings, he will surely be disappointed by that. If we talk about KL Rahul’s batting, then he is technically the right batsman. He has also scored centuries in Test cricket, but the way his two legs were frozen at the crease and away from the bat body, that is why there is a gap between his bat and pad.
The former Indian batsman said that Rahul’s batting also lacked confidence and rhythm. He said, ‘So I think the confidence and rhythm that is usually seen in Rahul’s batting has not been shown at all in these innings. Their confidence is very low, so if you drop them out of the team at this time, then it will be a big setback for them. Rahul has performed brilliantly in limited over cricket in the last one year and he was seen in a great rhythm even during the tour of Australia.
