TikTok India Head Nikhil Gandhi Resigns: Report

New Delhi: Nikhil Gandhi, the India Head of China’s ByteDance-owned short video-sharing platform TikTok, has decided to quit and is currently serving his notice period, IWMBuzz reported. After the company folded its India business, Gandhi was recently redesignated as TikTok Head for the Middle East, Africa, Turkey and South Asia. TikTok App Banned by Indian Government, Chinese Company ByteDance Stand to Lose More Than Rs 3 Crore Everyday Revenues.

“After much reflection on my time here at ByteDance and looking at my future goals, I have made the difficult decision to leave my role in the company,” Gandhi was quoted as saying by IWMBuzz. “Working with TikTok, I have seen our app shepherd in a new era of connection, communication and cultural appreciation,” he added.

TikTok roped in Gandhi in the year 2019 as its India head to drive the next phase of growth for the Chinese short video-sharing platform. However, in 2020, the Indian government said it was banning 59 apps developed by Chinese firms, including TikTok, over concerns that these apps were engaging in activities that threatened the national security and defence of India.

Based out of Mumbai, Gandhi has worked with Network. Before that, he was at The Walt Disney Company for nine years. He also worked with UTV Global Broadcasting and Viacom Media Networks as well. In a career spanning over 20 years, Gandhi has held leadership positions at leading media and entertainment companies.

Epic Games Reportedly Plans To Launch Full Version of Rocket League Game on Mobile

San Francisco: Fortnite developer Epic Games has been trying to convince Sony, and other publishers to bring their titles to Epic Games Store and is also willing to spend millions to do so, media reports said. According to The Verge, a 222-page confidential document, filed as part of the Epic vs Apple trial, reveals a broad effort to compete with Steam during 2020 with free games, Fortnite promotions, and more.  Asked Apple’s Tim Cook To Make iOS an Open Platform in 2015: Report.

The documents also show that Epic offered Sony $200 million for at least four first-party PlayStation games last year, ahead of a bigger push by Sony to bring more of its PlayStation games to PC. The document was created in September 2020 and was published and then quickly deleted last week, the report said. Epic Games has also been trying to convince Microsoft to bring its first-party games to the Epic Games Store.

“Their PC Pass leader is against what we’re doing,” notes the document and Microsoft is “effectively bidding against us for content”, the report said. “League of Legends is a longshot,” admits Epic in the document, while also noting that the deal to launch Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 on the Epic Games Store could lead to more in the future.

Epic has also been meeting with Riot Games, Activision/Blizzard and EA in a bid to get more PC game content for its store, it added.
