The pre-bookings for the OnePlus Nord commenced from today at 12 Noon IST onwards via Amazon India. The interested customers can pre-order the mid-range smartphone from the e-retailer with dispatches to begin from August 4, 2020. The company has listed both 8GB and 12GB variants of the OnePlus Nord. However, Amazon made a huge blunder while listing the pre-orders. The 8GB variant of the Nord smartphone is listed for Rs 29,999.

Interestingly, it is the same price at which the company is selling the 12GB model. This seems to be a technical glitch here. When clicked on the wrongly listed variant, it directs the users to the 12GB variant. So, this is an error made by Amazon. And, the Netizens were quick enough to spot this error.

WhatsApp Privacy Policy: Your Account Won’t Be Deleted After May 15, but Here’s What Will Happen if You Don’t Accept the New Terms

May 15, 2021—the day when the new WhatsApp privacy policy comes into effect. After facing much backlash from users across, the Facebook-owned app sure scrapped its May 15 deadline, but not quite literally. WhatsApp earlier noted that no accounts will be deleted on May 15, 2021, for not accepting the policy update, but there’s much more to what meets the eye. You will lose a whole lot of functionality at some point. Yes, you read that right. Users might start losing some basic features until they accept the new terms. Well, it appears to be worse than losing the account in the first place. So, what will happen? Let us look into the details.

Earlier this year, WhatsApp created a lot of buzz after its controversial privacy policy forced users to switch to other alternative apps such as Signal and Telegram. The lack of clarity about what it meant garnered a scathing response from users. From creating memes to troll the Facebook-owned app’s policy to rushing to other ‘more secured’ applications, we saw it all. After facing significant criticisms WhatsApp did ease the process but appears to use a rather forceful method of making people accept the new privacy policy.

What Will Happen If You Don’t Accept WhatsApp’s New Terms?

Your account will not be deleted on May 15, unlike the previous controversial announcement. The messaging platform now clarified that users who do not accept the updated privacy policy will lose most of the key features. Users will get constant reminders with the screen asking to accept the policy. If not accepted, WhatsApp users will have limited functionality. “After a few of limited functionality, you won’t be able to receive incoming calls or notifications and WhatsApp will stop sending messages and calls to your phone. At that point, users will have to choose: either they accept the new terms, or they are in effect prevented from using WhatsApp at all,” the company was quoted saying The Guardian in a statement.

WhatsApp Privacy Policy

Till you accept it, first your access to the chat list within WhatsApp will be restricted, meaning you won’t be able to see messages. If you have WhatsApp notifications enabled on your phone, you will be able to see messages incoming messages in the notification itself and reply from there for the time being. You will be able to answer incoming WhatsApp voice and video calls, but then all of it will stop. As of now, there is no specific time mentioned for what the ‘few weeks’ would be. This means, eventually, all WhatsApp users will have to accept the new privacy policy to be able to use the platform.

WhatsApp in its defense, time and again, reiterated that there would be no change in their data sharing policy. The chats are encrypted, and hence, they could never be accessed by anyone else, not even WhatsApp, apart from the sender and the receiver.

Cicada Safari App: How to Track Millions of Emerging Brood X Cicadas in US? This Interactive Map Will Help You to Find the Insects' Location

The Cicadas are coming, or they already did in parts of the eastern US. The long-awaited cicadas of Brood X have started tunneling out from their underground homes for the first time in 17 years, with trillions expected in the coming weeks. The of Columbia and the surrounding states of Maryland and Virginia have reported sightings earlier than most other states. As more of the red-eyed, signing insects is expected to appear in other parts of the country, there’s an app that may help you track their location. Cicada Safari—a smartphone app is launched that lets users track their whereabouts. So, what is the app all about? How can you download it? In this article, we will tell how and more about Cicadas’ arrival in US states.

What is Brood X Cicadas?

The cicadas are a superfamily, the Cicadoidea, of insects in the order Hemiptera (true bugs). Brood X, also known as the Great Easter Brood is one of the 15 broods of periodical cicadas that appear regularly throughout the eastern US. They are different than the annual cicadas. The Brood X spend almost their whole lives a foot or two underground, and then in the spring of their 13th or 17th year, depending on the type, mature cicada emerge for a brief adult stage. They synchronise in huge numbers for a massive mating frenzy.

Some US states have already reported cicadas sightings. Residents of those areas have taken to social media to share the evidence, while other places still await the bugs’ big arrival.

Cicada Safari App: How to Download? Can You Track the Cicadas?

Gene Kritsky, an insect expert, who worked with Mount St. Joseph University’s Center for IT Engagement in Cincinnati created the Cicada Safari App. It is a crowd-sourcing effort to track the insects. The app will allow users to take pictures of the little buggers, document their location, and send them in. The application can be downloaded for free. You can CLICK HERE to download Cicada Safari in ’s App Store and CLICK HERE to download Cicada Safari on Google Play. Besides, the app is expected to become part of historical data to see how Brood X is increasing or declining over the years.

Not only the above app, but the University of Connecticut has also created two interactive maps that display the cicadas’ expected location based on a database of records from past experiences.

The swarms of red-eyed bugs are soon to be buzzing through the air in parts of the US. While some places have already reported sightings, other states are expecting the end of this month or June 2021. However, there is nothing to worry about, as the insects are harmless.
