After Weekend, Halsey Also Slams Grammys for Corruption, Says ’Hoping for More Transparency ‘

After being snubbed at the Grammy nominations this year, American singer-songwriter Halsey has called out the nomination process, criticising it for being about more than just releasing quality music or cultural impact. BTS At Grammys 2020: From Boy With Luv to Mic Drop, 5 Songs That the K-Pop Hotties Should Perform at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards!

“I’ve been thinking and wanted to choose my words carefully because a lot of people have extended sympathy and apology to me since the Grammy nominations. The Grammys are an elusive process,” she wrote on Instagram Stories.

“It can often be about behind the scenes private performances, knowing the right people, campaigning through the grapevine, with the right handshakes and ‘bribes’ that can be just ambiguous enough to pass as ‘not bribes’. And if you get that far, it’s about committing to exclusive TV performances and making sure you help the Academy make their millions in advertising on the night of the show,” she added.

The singer continued: “Perhaps sometimes it is (!!!) but it’s not always about the music or quality or culture. Just wanted to get that off my chest. @theweeknd deserves better, and Manic did too (woman shrugging emoji) perhaps it’s unbecoming of me to say so but I can’t care anymore. While I am THRILLED for my talented friends who were recognised this year, I am hoping for more transparency or reform. But I’m sure this post will blacklist me anyway.”

Halsey has not received a single nomination for her 2020 album Manic, which included the chart-topping single Without meGRAMMYs 2021 Nominations: The Weeknd Slams Recording Academy After His Snub, Says ‘The Grammys Remain Corrupt’

In a social media post last week, The Weeknd also accused the Recording Academy of being “still corrupt”. His reaction got a response from interim Grammy chief Harvey Mason jr., who insisted that the process is legitimate.

“All the records get the fairest of fair shakes,” he said to variety.com, adding: “We listen to all the music — it’s a long, arduous process and people take pride in it. The people in that room care: there’s no agendas in there, there’s no ‘let’s snub this person’ or that person. It’s about, ‘Let’s try and find excellence’.”

The 2021 Grammy Awards nominations were announced on November 24, with Beyonce leading the way with nine nods, followed by Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Roddy Ricch with six apiece.

Arshi Khan on Her Web Series Mary Aur Marlow: “It Will Have Bold Content but Still Is a Fun, Comic Show”

Actress Arshi Khan is out exploring her comic side in the OTT space and she is aware her new show comes with loads of double meaning. Bigg Boss 11’s Arshi Khan Feels Controversies Exits Because Audience Likes Watching Contestants Fight.

Arshi is seen trying her hand at comedy in the web series Mary Aur Marlow. She stars opposite Akshay Mishra in the series that revolves around Mary and Marlow, where Mary (Arshi) ends up becoming a sexpert for grassroots level people who cannot afford to go to the doctor or specialist.

Since Mary’s Hindi is not up to the mark, Akshay, who plays Marlow, helps her communicate with the people she sets out to help. However, when he tries using ‘shudh’ Hindi, it leads to unintentional double meaning language.

From the trailer and title, it is not surprisingly evident that the show has a lot of double-meaning dialogues. Former Bigg Boss 11 Contestant Arshi Khan to Enter Savitri Devi College And Hospital as a GHOST.

“It’s a double-meaning show but I think Mary Aur Marlow is also a fun title. After hearing the title, people think it will have bold content but when they watch it, they will realise it’s a fun show, which has a lot of comic scenes,” Arshi told IANS in a telephonic interview.

Reacting to the government’s decision, to put all digital media portals, including online news and Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regulation, Arshi said: “The government should definitely regulate digital platforms because nowadays there are a lot of web series that are showing vulgar content and people of any age group can access the internet. So, the government surely needs to keep an eye on them.”

Arshi feels she has good comic timing. “I never find it difficult to do comedy on screen because I feel my comic timing is really good, so I like to act in shows which have comic content,” Arshi said.

“I had a really nice experience shooting for this series and I had a lot of fun working with (director) Anirudh (Kumar) while we were shooting for it. We have released just one episode of the show and I hope the audience will have a lot more fun watching the next episodes,” she added about the show, currently streaming on Big Movie Zoo App.
