Elvis: Tom Hanks to Resume Shoot for Legendary Singer’s Biopic in Australia from September 23

Hollywood star Tom Hanks is ready to resume work on September 23. He will be back to shoot for the untitled Elvis Presley film in Australia. Hanks was in that country filming the project earlier this year when he contracted Covid-19 in March. Shooting for the Baz Luhrmann directorial will restart on September 23 after six months of the production shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has been confirmed. Chris Pratt Makes Bryce Dallas Howard Show Her Bruises As Jurassic World: Dominion Resumes Shooting in London

“We’re back to, as Elvis liked to say, ‘taking care of business!’ It is a real privilege in this unprecedented global moment that Tom Hanks has been able to return to Australia to join Austin Butler and all of our extraordinary cast and crew to commence production on ‘Elvis’,” Luhrmann said. “I cannot emphasise enough how lucky we feel in the current climate that the state of Queensland, and Queenslanders in general, have been so supportive of this film… We are all excited to start working with Tom Hanks when he is out of quarantine in two weeks,” he added. Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings May Be Next In Line to Resume Filming by the End of July in Australia

The film was in advanced stages of pre-production in March when Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the coronavirus. The musical drama is about the life and music of Elvis Presley, seen through the lens of his complicated relationship with his manager, Tom Parker. The Warner Bros film stars Austin Butler as Elvis, Tom Hanks as Parker and Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley.

The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape of the US. Luhrmann is directing the film from the screenplay written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce. The film will resume shooting in Queensland, Australia. Luhrmann also thanked their “partners in the Queensland Government and Queensland Health for their extremely diligent process”. “So that we can be an example how creativity and productivity can proceed safely and responsibly in a way that protects our team and the community at large,” said the director.

Naseeruddin Shah's Mirza Ghalib Clip Is Going Viral; Here's What The Show Is About And Where To Watch It Online

It sure gladdens us to the core that we grew up at a time when Doordarshan was reigning supreme. We can only imagine how deprived today’s generation is in terms of entertainment, knowledge, understanding and history when it comes to learning from Television.  It introduced us to some of the greats of Indian literature as well and one of them was Mirza Ghalib. We have often used him as an analogy in our sentences saying, “Apne aapko Ghalib samajhte ho?”. But how much do we actually know about him? Fortunately for the Doordarshan bred generation, we watched the show Mirza Ghalib and got an idea of what his life and opinions were. Let us tell you why we are talking about him out of the blue and where you can watch the old show. Naseeruddin Shah on Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death Probe: No One Is Interested in Opinions of Some Half Educated Starlet

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, who is famous for his quirky performances in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Zero and others, shared a clip from the show which is now going viral. It has Shah saying how everything is up for sale now. Check it out here…

What it is about?

Mirza Ghalib was a legendary poet who had modern views about religion, love, rituals, society and life. This was Doordarshan’s way of presenting the noted writer’s thoughts to the present generation. But it had the other side as well. Rather than mystifying the character, Gulzar (writer, producer and director of the series) keeps it as a biographical account of the poet. So while his couplets spoke about what he felt and believed, his struggle to make ends meet also show the other side of this famous poet. It was only compounded by the early deaths of his seven kids, his love for a lavish lifestyle, competition from rivals and the shift of power from the last Mughal Bahadur Shah Jafar to the East India Company. The depicts that and more about Ghalib’s way of thinking.

Where to watch online:

There are many users on YouTube who have uploaded the series in parts for viewing. Do check it out to be enthralled by the glamour and greatness of this show which didn’t have great production values but managed to leave you highly impressed.

Did You Know Kareena Kapoor Shot For Hrithik Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai As Her Debut Film?

Did You Know Kareena Kapoor Shot For Hrithik Roshan's Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai As Her Debut Film?

It’s common knowledge that Kareena Kapoor was supposed to debut along with Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Naa…Pyar Hai. But did you know she actually shot a scene for the film before she was replaced by Ameesha Patel? And it’s not a lie as Kareena can still be visible in that scene albeit faintly. Although Kareena debuted in the same year with Refugee (2000) opposite Abhishek Bachchan, KNPH could have given her career a huge thrust as the movie was wildly successful. Kareena Kapoor Khan Birthday Special: She Came, She Walked and She Ruled Our Hearts with her Phenomenal Fashion Offerings (View Pics)

So what happened? Well, as per Rakesh Roshan, the director of the film, Kareena’s mother Babita made things difficult for the actress’ inclusion in the movie. He told The Quint that four days before the shoot of a song, Babita asked Roshan Sr to cancel the song shoot and instead do a dialogue scene. That didn’t go down well with the director and he decided to not have Kareena in it.

To give you an idea of what it would have been like to see the two superstars together in their debut film, here’s a glimpse.

Roshan met Ameesha Patel, who is his friend’s daughter, during a wedding and asked her if she was interested in movies. Recalling the incident, he told The Quint, “I casually asked her if she was interested in films. She said she hasn’t given a thought to it but she doesn’t mind. So I invited her over to our house. I called Ameesha and made both Hrithik and her sit together. I saw that they were a perfect match and they would make for an excellent pair on screen.” Rest as they say is history.
